Case Summary
Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja on Monday sentenced two former top officials in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation to 105 years imprisonment for contract fraud and abuse of office
Full story
According to the breakdown of the jail sentences, Audu, who was convicted of the 10-count charge, will serve 70 years in prison, while his co-traveller, Ayodeji, who was found culpable on five counts, will serve 35 years.
The court, presided over by Justice Yusuf Halilu, found them guilty of a 10-count charge ranging from criminal conspiracy to complicity in the award of a N1 billion contract to themselves.
According to the prosecution, the two former directors abused their positions by forming private companies that they used to secure N1 billion contracts from the Economic Reforms and Governance Project, ERGP, and the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System, GIFMIS, both of which are housed in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.
