TRACK ABANDONED AND LOOTED PROJECTS

GO TO LIST OF PROJECTS >>
One of the biggest indicators of corruption and impunity in Nigeria is the sheer number of abandoned projects across the country. Some of the projects - like the erstwhile National airline Nigeria Airways - collapsed after several years of successful operation while some - like the Ajaokuta steel plant - never even saw the light of day after billions of dollars were pumped into them. Lack of consequence is the greatest enabler of corruption and impunity. As such, we have decided to compile a comprehensive a list of abandoned projects in Nigeria's history with a view to one day bringing those guilty of any criminality to book and retrieving any looted money back to the country. It doesn't matter how long ago a crime was committed, we must still bring the perpetrators to book, where possible. The first step to doing this is to properly identify and document the crimes.
This is a huge undertaking and all we have done is kickstart the project by gathering as much initial information as we can. Our data is far from comprehensive and there will be errors in some instances. As such, we will need the help of the public to send us details of projects that we have omitted and help make corrections to our current data. Please look through our list and leave comments, make suggestions, give feedback (good and bad) and post details of abandoned projects that we may have missed. And, most importantly, share this information to other relevant groups of concerned Nigerians. Finally, just a reminder that these projects cost a lot of time, effort and money. Any donations to this project in particular or FantasticallyCorrupt general would be appreciated. All receipts and expense will be detailed on our website.
