WE MUST START IDENTFYING AND COLLATING ANY AND ALL ILLEGAL AND SUSPECT CONTRACTS AND START INFORMING THE PARTIES INVOLVED THAT WE WILL NOT HONOUR THOSE CONTRACTS
Details
Nigeria has been haemorrhaging money due to theft and corruption, since it's inception. It's a horrendous situation and the effects of this will be felt by many generations from now. However many of the monies have escaped the country through fraudulent and illegal contracts and often through illegitimate governments. How can it be justifiable that several generations yet to be born should be made to pay for crimes committed by others and from which they had no benefit? For instance on what legal or legitimate basis did the like of Babangida and Abacha incur horrendous debts on our behalf? These people were not voted in. Nobody chose them. Nobody gave them the legitimacy to do the things that they did. They took power by the force of the gun. So I propose we start a movement informing every business organisation that any business deals, contracts or transactions that have not been done with proper transparency, due process and legitimacy will not necessarily be recognised and honoured by us. When we finally get a proper government into office, our entire liabilities will be properly dissected. Debts will be cancelled .. oil deals will be torn up... oil blocks will be retrieved.... Illegal payments will be aggressively pursued; conflict of interest decisions will be revisited, contracts drawn up by military regimes that have negatively impacted upon us will be reversed, inflated contracts or white elephant projects will be reversed, officials who acquired lands and other properties ans assets due to their positions of influence will be identified, pursued for the monies and in some cases severely punished.
This campaign must start drawing up a list of any such contracts and will not only list them on broadcast, print and social media, we will also send legal documents to all the individuals and organisations that we identify. We will let them know of our plans. Any payments we retrieve must be returned with full interest and with additional punitive measures.
This movement will be very important not just to correct past wrongdoings but to prevent future ones. It will also put a stop or greatly reduce coups because few people will be willing to do business with unelected or crooked officials when they know that future governments will not recognise and honour their contracts.
