Ezuzu, the CEO of the investment firm Arerben Ventures, was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's Benin Zonal Command with one count of gaining by false pretense. The defendant entered a plea of guilty to the charge, according to a statement released by EFCC spokesperson Wilson Uwujaren on Wednesday.
Francis A. Jirbo, the prosecutor's attorney, asked the court to convict and punish him in accordance with his plea. The defense attorney, A. Afamefena, urged the court to balance justice with mercy because the crime's victims will be compensated.
